LOCAL BEACHES AND HIDDEN GEMS
Best spots to take a dip on the French Riviera
The French Riviera is known for its unspoiled beaches and spectacular horizon views.
Here, visitors can admire aqua-blue shorelines as they sunbathe on the beach or sip wine at a seaside café.
Beach goers and urban dwellers can experience a hint of city class amidst charming beaches.
For the best of both worlds, head to one of these top beaches in the French Riviera.
La Garoupe
Visitors explore white-sandy shorelines and traditional turquoise waters in this Cap d’Antibes beach. Part public, part private, this region attracts the chic traveler who enjoys sunbathing in class. Visitors can rent a sun-lounger or parasol for a small fee. However, this beach boasts a “no-selfie” zone so travellers enjoy the experience rather than boasting their beautiful beach body.
Plage de l'olivette
One of my favourite, place on the Riviera because it is unique and wild. Hidden gem, Olivette Beach houses “pointus”, typical colored boats of the region. In the middle of these picturesque boats, we find a stretch where we can lay out to tan and swim. There are also a few shaded areas.
Paloma Beach
Located in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, this small beach is nestled along rocky shorelines.
This is definitely my favorite beach on the Riviera, the water, the landscape, everything looks like paradise. This destination is ideal for those who want to yacht or sail the shorelines in style.
Plage des marinières
Located in Villefranche-sur-Mer, this beach does not contain any private beach rentals. Completely public and a non-smoking area, this beach attracts families and those who want a traditional beach experience. I would advise you to take the train, much easier access and only a minute away from the beach.
Castel Plage
Nestled at the foot of the castle as in a jewel case, Castel Plage is the promise of a unique moment, according to the waves and gourmet temptations in keeping with the Mediterranean. Just a stone away from the old town, this seaside restaurant offers great cuisine, enhanced by an extraordinary setting. Symbol of the dolce vita à la niçoise, Castel will conquer the hearts of epicureans.
Saint-Laurent d'Eze
The beach of St Laurent d´Eze is one of the lesser known beaches in Eze. Located between the tip of Cabuel and Cap Mala in the Bay of Saint-Laurent, this beach is in an idyllic setting.
After a walk in a shady wood with a small stream, we arrive in this magnificent bay where the waves slam the rocks and pebbles.
Antibes/Juan Les Pins
The Juan-les-Pins beaches begin about where Cap d’Antibes leaves off. After the Plages des ondes on Cap d’Antibes, the rocky coast is devoid of sand for a few kilometres until the delightful Plage Les Pêcheurs named after the fishermen who sell their catch in a few stalls at the entrance to the beach.
There, you’ll see the crown jewel of the Juan-les-Pins coastline, Grande Plage, from which you get a clear view out to the Iles de Lerins in the distance and the Esterel mountains to the west.
Plage du Buse
The setting is stunning on this beach in Roquebrune-Cap Martin where Cap Martin rises to the east and the littoral stretches to the west.
Although close to the train station, the beach is far from the road and quiet reigns supreme. The beach is mostly pebbles but with some stretches of gravel and sand. Plus, there’s some shade.
Baie des fourmis
Nestled in the Casino gardens and La Rotonde, sheltered from the wind, next to the harbor, the beach, a true natural setting, reveals a breathtaking view of the villa Kerylos.
The French singers Souchon-Voulzy duo, love the place, devoted a title: “The Bay of Ants”.
The perfect place to enjoy the end of the day and watch sunset after my tour in Eze.
